Family Cruises

By BootsnAll | February 20th, 2009

Coming up with a vacation the entire family can enjoy and that does not cost a fortune can be a real challenge. And even if your family loves taking a simple trip to the nearest beach or mountain for camping, you want a little variety now and then, right? Something a little more interesting and far away than you could drive to in an hour would be a nice change of pace, but is that going to be too expensive? Not if you check out the various family cruises available these days.

It used to be that the word “cruise” conjured up images of “The Love Boat,” romance, luxury, and formal dinners – none of which are things that traveling families are going to be interested in. Nowadays, however, more and more cruise companies are offering great family cruises that not only appeal to parents and kids alike but will not break the bank.

Disney Cruises in particular are focused on the family cruise market, which is understandable – the Disney empire is geared toward family entertainment, so why should the cruises be any different? Parents on Disney Cruises are fortunate to have great babysitters on the ship’s staff so that they can enjoy some adult alone time, and still make fun memories with the kids at each port of call. But Disney does not have a corner on the family cruise market – other cruise companies offer on-board activities for all ages, too, and many also have “kids sail free” deals that crop up now and then.

If you look to the left on this page, you will see a list of cheap family cruises and other cruise discounts and specials which are currently available. This list comes from several different travel sources, and it is updated regularly – so we recommend that you bookmark this page and check back often to see what is new. That way, regardless of whether or not you are planning a family cruise right now, you will be able to learn about what the really good deals are and then know the best deals when you see them.

At the time of this writing, there is a Disney Cruise offered from $374 per person, which is a savings of more than $250 per person. Additionally, there are two “kids sail free” offers available – one on a seven-day Mediterranean cruise and another that says “kids sail free on every MSC Cruises ship.”
